Under Armour UA HOVR Phantom Performance Review
Last week, Under Armour launched its latest cushioning innovation UA HOVR. The new technology debuted in two running shoe models -Â UA HOVR Sonic and UA HOVR Phantom. The Sonic is a low top performance running shoe while the Phantom is a stylish mid top with a knitted collar.
You can spot Team Canada athletes sporting the UA HOVR Phantom on the podium in PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
The UA HOVR olefin foam is made in partnership with Dow Chemical. It’s a proprietary foam compound providing runners with excellent impact protection and shock absorption.
One of the key component of the UA HOVR cushioning system is the Energy Web, the red mesh fabric encloses the proprietary foam to maintain the midsole’s shape and improve energy return. While the white foam, UA Charged Foam, act as a carrier to stabilized the soft UA HOVR. It makes runners feel and perform better with less fatigue.
During my run, the UA HOVR Phantom delivered a plush and responsive ride. You can really feel the bounce in each step. It’s a good all-around cushioning.
The futuristic upper is made with microthread and SpeedForm 2.0 thats dries fast and conforms to your feet overtime. The external heel counter provided extra support and stability.
During my test, the sock-like upper is very breathable, comfortable and provide a secure fit.
Under Armour HOVR Phantom is a good daily trainer with responsive ride and comfortable upper. Plus, it looks good on and off the gym.
Both UA HOVR Sonic and UA HOVR Phantom are now available for purchase on UA.com and at select Sport Chek locations.
