The Amazing Brentwood Summer Event Series: Live Music, BollyFusion, Salsa Dancing, Rumble Boxing

The Amazing Brentwood is bringing dynamic summer programming back to its stunning outdoor plaza this summer with five weeks of activities beginning Saturday, July 8th and running through August 6th. Kicking off with a multicultural drum festival on July 8th, The Amazing Brentwood outdoor plaza will host multiple performances, classes, and cultural events, all free to the public.

Kicking off the series is the Multicultural Drum Festival on July 8th from 1pm to 6pm. This annual event celebrates diverse drumming traditions from around the world, bringing together 20 performance groups from 10 distinct ethnic backgrounds including African, Aboriginal, Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern. The performances will showcase the different rhythms, sounds, and styles of drumming from around the world.

Beginning Sunday, July 9th, and running each Saturday and Sunday until August 6th is Music on the Plaza. From 2pm to 8pm, these free outdoor performances will feature local musicians playing a variety of music. Performers include NaRai, Marie Hui, Antonio Larosa, Sound Cinema, Soulstream and more.

New to the Summer Event Series this year is BollyFusion, taking place on the Plaza Tuesday July 11th and July 18th from 6pm to 7pm. Co-founded by Yeshvi Mehta and Hasini Basnayake, BollyFusion is a South Asian women-owned inclusive dance community that teaches beginner-friendly dance classes with the intention of making dance and art accessible and available to everyone, regardless of race, gender, or background.

Another new addition this year is Art from the Heart, a free painting class running Tuesday, July 25th and Tuesday, August 1st from 6pm to 8pm. Art from the Heart encourages people to explore their creativity while teaching basic painting skills. Led by Maria Bertosh — a Vancouver-based Pop-Surrealism artist from Minsk, Belarus — the classes aim to create engaging and inspiring environments where participants explore and challenge themselves to try new things. All ages are welcome.

Also new this year is Party on the Plaza, featuring face painting by Oui Entertain, a Yuzu Lemonade Stand from Earls, Small Bites from R+D Kitchen by White Spot and a Bella Gelateria signature Gelato Cart. This all-ages event runs 5pm to 8pm on Friday July 28th and Friday August 4th.

Returning to the Plaza this year are free pop-up classes with SPINCO, taking place July 13th and 20th from 5pm to 8pm. If boxing is more your speed, Rumble Boxing will be hosting their invigorating shadowboxing classes on July 27th and August 3rd from 6pm to 7pm. The Amazing Brentwood is also pleased to welcome Salsa Dancing back to the Plaza each Wednesday beginning July 12th and running until August 2nd from 6pm to 8:30pm. The popular Battle at Brentwood is also returning for a second year. Enjoy an amateur DJ showcase and battle featuring students from Table Tutors, a DJ school and experience where DJs of all of all levels can develop their skills in a safe, inclusive environment with professional equipment, share their knowledge and elevate the arts of DJing, Beat Making and Turntablism.
