Review: The Dyson Cyclone V10 cord-free vacuum makes cleaning fun

The days of heavy and cumbersome corded vacuums are over. The Dyson Cyclone V10 is a lightweight cord-free stick vacuum cleaner. As the name implies, the new Cyclone V10 is powered by a digital motor that spins up to 125,000 rpm. It’s among the most powerful suction of any cord-free vacuum. The 14 cyclones generate forces of more than 79,000g to fling microscopic particles such as pollen and bacteria. It even has 20% more suction power!

The Dyson Cyclone V10 is available in four versions: V10 Absolute Extra, V10 Absolute, V10 Animal and V10 Motorhead. For the past few weeks, I’ve been testing the V10 Absolute, which is equipped with four different attachments and two cleaner heads to clean various surfaces.

The ergonomic unit is fairly lightweight and compact, weighing only 2.68 kg. The V10’s seven-cell, nickel-cobalt-aluminum battery provides up to 60 minutes of fade-free power and takes 3.5 hours to fully charge. It has a longer battery life compared to previous models.

The HEPA filtration system captures up to 99.87% of particles as small as 0.3 microns and expelling cleaner air. Once the bin is full, you simply point and shoot the dirt ejector straight into the trash can. It’s mess free and hygienic without getting your hands dirty.

In addition, the acoustically engineered so that the machine absorbs vibrations and dampens sound to keep sound levels down.

The conventional upright vacuum does not have the reach and requires a wall outlet. The portable Cyclone V10 machine makes it easy to clean even out to your car with various brush attachments.

I used the mini motorized tool to clean my carpet and floor mats. Then, I used the two in one combination tool for tight spaces and the crevice tool for edges and narrow gaps around the seats. It effortlessly sucked up all the dirt and debris.

At home, I used the soft roller cleaner head on my hardwood floors, which has soft woven nylon and anti-static carbon fibre. It removed dirt, dust and pet hair without scratching the floors. There’s also the torque-drive cleaner head with a stiffer brush for deep cleaning carpets.

For delicate surfaces like blinds, the piano and my laptop keyboard, I used the quick-release mini soft dusting brush with soft nylon bristles to clean out dust and lint.

Overall, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute is a powerful and versatile cleaning system. The transformability of the machine makes it easy to clean hard to reach spaces. The V10 motor was able to suck up all types of dirt around my house from tiny particles to large debris. It makes cleaning a fun chore.
