Los Angeles is the Place to Bey: The Beyoncé Guide
Kicking off Black History Month strong with a highly anticipated tour, Beyoncé continues to dominate the charts and the world. While the world-famous performer has many homes, she and Jay-Z have strong roots in Los Angeles and are often seen around the city at several iconic spots.
Beyoncé fans will want to get in “formation” for Los Angeles Tourism’s Guide to Beyoncé’s Los Angeles if they’ve ever wanted to Bey like Queen B and live out their “sweet dreams” in L.A. ahead of the Renaissance tour.
Including some of the Carters’ favourite spots in the City of Angels, here are some of the highlights to eat, dress and slay like Beyoncé:
Eat like a queen:
– Beauty and Essex. With a menu that features Chef Chris Santos’ globally inspired dishes, the indoor-outdoor restaurant also features a ground floor courtyard and a patio on the second level. In April 2017, the restaurant hosted a private dinner for Beyoncé, Jay-Z and crew.
– A hotspot for celeb sightings, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Blue Ivy and Jay’s mom, Gloria Carter dined at Gjelina, one of their favourite restaurants in L.A.
– One of Bey and Jay’s favourite unassuming sushi date nights spots, located on the second level of a strip mall, Sushi Park takes its sushi seriously. The omakase experience, which spans 17 courses and more than 30 different cuts of high-end sushi, costs about $200 per person.
Dress like a diva:
– Beyoncé wore a stunning emerald green Walter Mendez gown to Jay-Z’s third annual Tidal X charity concert in October 2017. It was the Queen’s first red carpet appearance since she gave birth to her twins. The Walter Collection is open by appointment only and is perfect to get a glamorous piece.
Experience a place where Bey slayed:
– While the Formation video was set in New Orleans, the video was filmed in LA at the landmark Fenyes Mansion. Located along what was once known as “Millionaire’s Row,” the Fenyes Mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in September 1985 and is the home of the Pasadena Museum of History. Monthly 90-minute tours are $25 for General Admission.
