Fitness World Partners With Leading Women In The Wellness Industry For International Women’s Day Event
In a continued effort to challenge gender biases and stereotypes in the wellness industry and encourage solutions-oriented discussions, Fitness World — the high-value, low-cost B.C.-based gym with 16 locations across the Lower Mainland — will host its second International Women’s Day panel event on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 5pm. Featuring leading women in the fitness, sport, and wellness communities, the annual initiative will include an inspiring discussion around this year’s IWD #embracingequity theme and a special, high-energy workout involving all guests and panelists.
Guided by the multi-talented connector and podcast host, May Globus, the panel discussion will touch on gender equality issues across the fitness, wellness, and sports industries, individuals’ experiences in breaking barriers, career advice to support the next generation of female leaders, and ways to take action. Panelists include:
– Charlotte Elizabeth, Motivational lifestyle and body-positive influencer
– Ingrid Knight-Cohee, Director of Classes at Fitness World
– Rach McBride, Nonbinary Pro Triathlete
– Saschie MacLean, Entrepreneur and owner of Formation Studio
“We are thrilled to be hosting our second annual IWD event”, says Hannah Ungar, Marketing Director at Fitness World. She continues, “we are committed to forging a path for positive visibility for women in the wellness space and while there is more work to be done, we are proud of our journey and our continued learning. We look forward to an evening of meaningful discussion, inspiration, and of course a fun workout which will preview our new Tempo Strength class.”
With over 500 employees, Fitness World offers an inclusive workplace and prioritizes internal programs that help women advance. The organization is committed to hiring diverse talent, has a gender balanced leadership, offers a flexible work schedule to cater to different peoples’ different needs (i.e.: childcare, maternity and paternity leave), and regularly hosts interactive peer mentorship groups and activities.
The #EmbracingEquity panel discussion and workout will be open to select members of the community through giveaways hosted on Fitness World’s social media channels as well as the panelists’ and moderator’s channels. For other members and the community, the club will also host workshops celebrating International Women’s Day throughout the month of March at its Cambie, Semiahmoo, Georgia, and Lougheed locations.
