First-ever 2020 BMW 228i xDrive Gran Coupe Review
The all-new 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is a sporty four-door with stretched silhouette, frameless windows and wide stance. Our test vehicle was the 2020 BMW 228i xDrive Gran Coupe in beautiful Melbourne Red Metallic and Perforated Black Dakota leather interior. Our vehicle also has the optional M Sport Plus Package which included a 19″ M Double Spoke Wheels and M Sport Brakes.
Under the hood, 228i xDrive Gran Coupe is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder producing 228 horsepower and 258 Ib. ft. of torque paired with a 8-speed Sport automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive system. It will accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
On the inside, the 228i Gran Coupe has the latest BMW technology and premium quality touches. It has all the comfort you expect from a BMW with supported leather seats, upscale trim, dyaminic Driving Experience Control and amazing Hard Kardon sound system.
One of my favourite feature is BMW Live Cockpit Professional paired with a 10.25 inch Info Display and optional Heads-Up Display. The bright, digital driver-focused layout make it easy to view entertainment info and navigation guidance without taking your eyes off the road.
The 228i Gran Coupe is equipped with BMW latest connectivity, driver assistance and safety systems like WiFi Hotspot, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Parking Assistant, Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning and Active Blind Spot Detection.
With a sloping roof line, the back seat is quite tight with limited head and leg room. However, it has a fairly large cargo space for hauling gear and groceries.
Overall, the 2020 BMW 228i Gran Coupe is a fun to drive daily driver with good fuel economy. It’s a good all around coupe with refined styling and design, everyday usability and space, sporty handling, connectivity and technology.
