Summer has arrived at Metropolis at Metrotown! From now through September 2, BC’s largest shopping center invites you to dive into an “Under the Sea” themed extravaganza. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly events, charming décor, or delicious eats, Metropolis at Metrotown has something for everyone.
Feast and Fun at the Night Market at the Met
Get ready for a culinary adventure at the first-ever Night Market at the Met, inspired by the vibrant hawker centres of Asia. This free-to-enter market runs from July 4-7 and features a variety of street vendors offering a delightful mix of flavours:
Wakwak Burgers: Savour Japanese fusion burgers like the deluxe teriyaki burger and the special Namban burger.
Aburi’s WA Bagel: Try their unique Japanese fusion bagels, including a red bean and cream cheese bagel.
Butcher’s Block BBQ: Enjoy Southern BBQ classics like 18-hour hickory-smoked beef brisket sliders.
La Meza Grill: Experience Filipino tacos, including lechon and pork sisig.
Don Oso: Indulge in Mexican/Latin fare with quesabirria tacos.
In addition to mouth-watering food, the market features live music, a street circus, dancers, a free photo booth with an “Under the Sea” backdrop, and daily face painting and balloon-making. Don’t miss the Spin and Win – for every $25 spent, you get a chance to spin the wheel and win a prize!
Enchanting Underwater Decor
Stroll through Metropolis at Metrotown and be mesmerized by stunning jellyfish, coral reef, and seaweed installations. These vibrant displays are scattered throughout the center’s mini-parks and culminate in a grand exhibit in the Grand Court, perfect for capturing memorable photos.
Professional Photo Opportunities
From July 17-19 (11 am – 5 pm) and July 20-28 (11 am – 7 pm), you can have professional photos taken at the Grand Court’s undersea wonderland. With ocean-themed props and a friendly sea creature to pose with, this is a fun activity for all ages. Packages start at $20, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ocean Wise.
Join the Under the Sea Parade
Don’t miss the vibrant “Under the Sea” parade on July 6, July 20, and August 3 from 12 pm – 1:30 pm. Parade participants will don eye-catching sea creature costumes designed by Lazy Wizard and gather at each mini-park, offering fantastic photo opportunities. The parade route starts at Zara and concludes in the Grand Court.
