Whether you are looking to maximize the few weeks of summer vacation, or plan an autumn trip, Tuolumne County is California’s best kept secret beckoning with new and undiscovered adventures!

Tuolumne County spans three distinct regions of Northern California – Gold Country, High Sierra and Yosemite National Park – and what many don’t know is that nearly two-thirds of Yosemite National Park is in Tuolumne County (the less crowded half). While millions of visitors flock to the popular Yosemite Valley Floor, very few make their way to places like Hetch Hetchy, Carlon Falls, Tuolumne Meadows and the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias. These less crowded areas are just as awe-inspiring but come with perks – like how Hetch Hetchy and Carlon Falls have their own Yosemite National Park entrance, for example.

Beyond exploring the less crowded side of Yosemite, travellers can also plan to explore new adventures:

This summer Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort launched new summer activities. For those who like more of a soft adventure, hikers can take a chair ride up to the top of the mountain and hike down. Giving hikers access to breathtaking views of the Stanislaus National Forest and a truly one-of-a-kind downhill stroll. And for those looking for some more thrill-seeking adventures, Dodge Ridge has just opened their mountain biking trails. Disk golf is a trending activity and Dodge Ridge is providing a unique way to experience this sought-after sport with their mountain top disk golf course. Summer adventures are lively at Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort, but they also cater to the wellness seekers with lodge Yoga sessions to complete their summer offerings.

Twain Harte is the charming storybook town nestled in the lush forests of the High Sierra. With many inns, B&B’s and vacation rentals, it’s a great locale near fantastic hiking, fishing, boating and golfing. There’s even miniature golf and bocce ball in town.

Also in the High Sierra, experience the West the way the settlers first saw it – on horseback! From a leisurely half-hour ride to an adventuresome week-long pack trip into the Emigrant Wilderness, riders see the best of the Sierra Nevada from the best seat in the house – a saddle. Reputable pack stations offer rides May through October with knowledgeable guides leading the way.
